​From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.   Antonio Margheriti (19 September 1930 – 4 November 2002), also known under the pseudonym Anthony M. Dawson, was a prolific Italian filmmaker. He was born in Rome and died in 2002 from a heart attack in Monterosi, Viterbo, near Rome at the age of 72. Margheriti started out in the Italian film industry in 1956 as a screenwriter. He started directing in 1960, his first film being "Spacemen" (aka "Assignment Outer Space"). Margheriti is known for his science fiction, horror, spaghetti western and action movies. He was the director of such cult movies as Cannibal Apocalypse, Castle of Blood, The Virgin of Nuremberg, Assignment Outer Space, Wild Wild Planet, Naked You Die, Mr. Super Invisible, The Last Hunter, Battle of the Worlds and numerous others. Most of his films were directed under the pseudonym of Anthony M. Dawson. He stopped using his real name in the USA early in his career, when he realized the English translation of the name "Antonio Margheriti" was "Anthony Daisies", and he thought it sounded too effeminate. He was the only Italian director who worked directly for American production companies like MGM, United Artists, 20th Century Fox, Columbia Pictures, etc. with films like: Yor, the Hunter from the Future, Take a Hard Ride, Killer Fish, etc. Margheriti said his action/adventure films were his favorites, and his least favorite movies were the sword-and-sandal peplum films he made in the early 1960s (such as "Devil of the Desert" and "Giants of Rome"). For years, director Richard Morrissey disputed Margheriti's claim that he had directed "Andy Warhol's Frankenstein" in the early 1970s, saying that Margheriti was mostly just a technical advisor on that film. Morrissey said Margheriti did however direct a very, very brief segment of the movie (mostly the scenes involving the two children roaming around in the lab). Margheriti worked with many well-known genre actors such as Lee Van Cleef, John Saxon, Claude Rains, John Morghen, Klaus Kinski, Barbara Steele, Reb Brown, Donald Pleasence, Yul Brynner, David Warbeck, Luciano Pigozzi, Marvin Hagler, Terence Hill, Fred Williamson, Christopher Lee and many others. Most of his later films were shot in the Philippines (especially his war films). Margheriti also collaborated on the special effects in two Italian cult films which he did not direct, Sergio Leone's "Fistful of Dynamite" (1971) and Aldo Lado's "The Humanoid" (1979). Margheriti retired from filmmaking in 1996 at age 66. He died in 2002 of natural causes. Margheriti's son Edoardo and his daughter Antonella are both also involved in filmmaking. Eli Roth's character in the 2009 Quentin Tarantino film Inglourious Bastards took Margheriti as his namesake. Sam Campbell is an Australian stand-up comedian and actor who performs live stand-up comedy, as well as creating online comedy shows. He made a short comedy series which was broadcast on Comedy Central Australia, and appeared as a guest on ABC TV’s The Checkout. He won the Best Newcomer award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2015, and the Most Outstanding Show award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2018. In 2022, he won the Best Comedy Show award at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards, for his show entitled Comedy Show. This same year, he was also a writer and actor on the cult TV show Don't Hug Me I'm Scared. In 2023, Comedy Show was also nominated in the Best Stand-up category at the UK National Comedy Awards. Campbell was confirmed as a contestant on the sixteenth series of long-running Channel 4 comedy gameshow Taskmaster. In February 2024, Campbell was nominated in the Best TV Comic category and Best Breakthrough Act category at the Chortle Awards.[16] He won in the Best Breakthrough Act category and was voted Comedian's Comedian by his peers. British Comedy Guide revealed Campbell is piloting a Channel 4 series called Make That Movie!, in which he will create films based on the dreams of strangers.

Markus Imhoof (born 19 September 1941) is a Swiss film director, screenwriter, theatre and opera director. He began his career as a documentary maker, focusing on controversial issues. His 1968 film Rondo was a critical look at the prison system in Switzerland. The film was banned until 1975. His next picture, Ormenis 199+69 (1969) also met with censorship, as it examined the role and treatment of horses in the cavalry and suggested that the unit ought to be disbanded. Imhoof was forced to make some edits before the film could be screened in public, removing scenes that military veterans found objectionable. Only in 2002 did the film became available in uncensored form. Volksmund - oder man ist was man isst (Vernacular - One Is What One Eats) (1972) was a documentary critical of consumption in society. Later in his career Imhoof began directing regular narrative films as well. His film Das Boot ist voll (The Boat Is Full) (1980) received international acclaim for showing the downside of Switzerland's neutral politics during World War II. The film depicted a group of Jewish refugees in 1942 being forced to return to Nazi Germany on order of the Swiss government and thus meeting their deaths in the concentration camps. At the time it was the first Swiss film to deal with this controversial topic. Imhoof's next film, Die Reise (The Journey) (1986) examined Baader-Meinhof's terrorism. Der Berg (The Mountain) (1990) was a psycholoical study of three people stranded on top of a mountain with only enough food for three of them to survive. Flammen im Paradies (Fire in Paradise) (1997) is also a psychological study, this time depicting a young man promised in marriage who switches places with a woman bound for India. Sara Quin (born on September 19, 1980 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada as Sara Keirsten Quin) is known for being one half of Canadian indie pop duo, Tegan and Sara, formed in 1998 in Calgary, Alberta, with identical twin sister Tegan Quin. Both musicians are songwriters and multi-instrumentalists. The pair have released nine studio albums and numerous EPs and earned a Grammy nomination in 2012 for their DVD/live album Get Along.
