He went on to headline several films throughout the 1980s and 1990s, including Teen Wolf (1985), The Secret of My Success (1987), Casualties of War (1989), Doc Hollywood (1991), and The Frighteners (1996). Fox returned to television on the ABC sitcom Spin City in the lead role of Mike Flaherty from 1996 to 2000. In 1998, Fox disclosed his 1991 diagnosis of Parkinson's disease. He subsequently became an advocate for finding a cure and founded the Michael J. Fox Foundation in 2000 to help fund research. Conlin was born and raised in Allentown, Pennsylvania. She was born to a Chinese-American mother and an Irish-American father. She performed in her first play at the age of six and continued to appear on stage in numerous Pennsylvania community and regional productions. Following her graduation from Parkland High School, Conlin moved to New York City to study acting and was accepted into New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. While working toward her B.F.A. in Theater, she appeared in several productions at the Atlantic Theater Company and the Playwrights Horizons Theater School, and traveled to Amsterdam to study with the Experimental Theatre Wing's International Training Program.
