William Finley (September 20, 1940 – April 14, 2012) was an American actor who has appeared in the films Simon, Silent Rage, Phantom of the Paradise, Sisters, and The Wedding Party. He had a long-running friendship and collaboration with director Brian De Palma, beginning with the student films Woton's Wake (1962) and Murder à la Mod (1968). Most recently, he contributed a small but effective cameo in De Palma's 2006 release The Black Dahlia. Under the name W. Franklin Finley, he wrote the screenplay for the 1983 film The First Time. He was also the co-author of the 1985 book Racewalking. Finley graduated from Columbia University in 1963. He resided in New York City with his wife and son.

Ghassan Massoud (Arabic: غسّان مسعود / Ghassān Masʻūd; born September 20, 1958) is a Syrian actor and filmmaker born on September 20, 1958, in Damascus, Syria. He achieved global recognition for his roles in both Arabic and worldwide films. Massoud has been active in the industry for several decades, earning a distinguished reputation as one of the most highly regarded actors in the Middle East. Massoud is known for writing and directing the theater play "Diplomasiyyoun," as well as his appearances in many Syrian-made films. He has appeared in the Syrian television series "The Chant of Rain," but most recently, he starred as Abu Bakr in MBC's series "Omar." He's most well-known internationally for his role as Saladin in Ridley Scott's 2005 film "Kingdom of Heaven," alongside playing Ammand the Corsair in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. Throughout his career, Massoud has been recognized for the commitment he has to his craft. He continues to be an influential figure in the world of Arab cinema, teaching drama at both the Damascus Music and Drama School and the Higher Institute for Dramatic Arts.

Paolo Taviani (born 8 November 1931) and Vittorio Taviani (20 September 1929 – 15 April 2018), collectively referred to as the Taviani brothers, were Italian film directors and screenwriters who collaborated on film productions. At the Cannes Film Festival, the Taviani brothers won the Palme d'Or and the FIPRESCI prize for Padre Padrone in 1977 and the Grand Prix du Jury for La notte di San Lorenzo (The Night of the Shooting Stars, 1982). In 2012 they won the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival with Caesar Must Die. Vittorio Taviani died on 15 April 2018 at the age of 88. Both born in San Miniato, Tuscany, Italy, the Taviani brothers began their careers as journalists. In 1960 they came to the world of cinema, directing with Joris Ivens the documentary L'Italia non è un paese povero (Italy is not a poor country). They went on to direct two films with Valentino Orsini, Un uomo da bruciare (A Man to Burn) (1962) and I fuorilegge del matrimonio (Outlaws of Marriage) (1963). Their first autonomous film was I sovversivi (The Subversives, 1967), with which they anticipated the events of 1968.
