At the age of 15 she started performing in school musical theater plays, and participated both as a singer and a composer on several music festivals. During her time in high school, Sofia traveled to France and Portugal, singing and dancing Mexican folklore music. She also participated in the first season of the show Latin American Idol (2006), which took place in Buenos Aires, Argentina. While studying for her B.A. in Communication and Advertising at Tec de Monterrey (ITESM), Sofia worked in several professional musical theater plays for the most prestigious local production company: Teló 77. Her most important roles at this stage were on the major shows "Rent" and "Footloose", starring as Mimi and Ariel, respectively. After graduating college, Sofia had her first appearance on a television series in 2010, working on 6 episodes of the show Morir en Martes (2010). A year later, she was offered the part of the lead antagonist in "Cursi", a comedy play written and directed by local playwright Luis Guerrero. In 2012, Sofia lent her voice and lyrics for a song composed by José Antonio 'Potro' Farías for the soundtrack of the Mexican film Me Late Chocolate (2013). That same year Sofia had the opportunity to open concerts for the famous Mexican pop band "Reik." Her real breakthrough in the national musical theater scene was in 2012, when Sofia moved to Mexico City after being chosen to alternate in the leading role of the original musical play "Si nos dejan", written and directed by prestigious Mexican playwright José Manuel López Velarde and produced by OCESA. After a two-year run in Mexico and a couple of tours in Colombia in 2013 and 2014, the show closed in August 2014 with more than 600 performances. Also in 2013, Sofia had a small role in the television series "Arrepentidos" produced by Fox Latin America and distributed by Nat Geo in Bogota, Colombia. Continuing with her television experience, Sofia participated in the show Soy tu doble (2012), both as a performer and a participant of this reality television series produced and transmitted by TV Azteca in Mexico, and Azteca America in the United States. By 2015, Sofia landed a role in the major television series Sense8 (2015), written and directed by Lilly Wachowski and Lana Wachowski, and co-directed by James McTeigue. The show is produced by Georgeville Television and is distributed worldwide by Netflix.
